Ma’alim Al-Suwar (Landmarks of the Surahs)

Praise be to God, who illuminated the darkness with His Book, made it a path leading to the Gardens, and raised those who know and act upon it in rank; and peace and blessings be upon the leader of the scholars and master of the messengers and prophets, his family, his Companions and all who follow his way until the Day of Judgment. This book, Ma’alim Al-Suwar, is a landmark on the path of the Quran, a key to its surahs from Al-Fatiha to Al-Nas, a program and guide for whoever seeks to reflect upon it, and a window onto the beauty of its surahs and verses. Its pages contain the names of the surahs, the subjects of their verses, an explanation of their purposes, aims and connections, a clarification of their rare and obscure words, and a selection from the pens of eminent scholars who recorded a little of their subtleties and guidance, along with other material that helps the reader and memorizer of the Quran form a picture of each surah and reflect upon it. I have taken care to produce this book in a new, enjoyable and useful style, and I hope to God that I have succeeded in what I hoped for and been guided to what I intended. I ask God to make it beneficial and sincerely for His noble sake; from God we seek help, from Him we draw guidance, and Him we ask for soundness.
