These terms explain how Hawamech works and what you can expect from us when you browse or buy on hawamech.com. Please read them together with the policies listed below, which form part of these terms.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using hawamech.com or ordering any of our products or services, you agree to these terms and to the policies that form part of them.

2. Acceptable use and platform security

Please use Hawamech only for lawful shopping. You may not use the site in any way that harms it, disrupts how it works, or stops other people from using it. Trying to break into our systems, uploading harmful code, or collecting data from the site with automated tools (scraping) without our written permission is not allowed. We may block any account that breaks these rules and take legal action where needed.

3. Our service: a reading marketplace

Hawamech is an online cultural marketplace and distributor that brings hundreds of publishers and vendors together in one place. We act as your intermediary: we guarantee that every product is original, we look after the quality of the service, and we handle the logistics from your order to your door.

4. Publishers’ content and responsibility

Hawamech displays and distributes printed works and paper products. We are not legally or morally responsible for the content of the books, or for the opinions and ideas in the titles offered by publishers. Full responsibility for a book’s content and its intellectual property rights lies with the publisher that offers it. We may remove any title that infringes intellectual property rights as soon as we are notified.

5. Hawamech’s intellectual property

Everything we create for the site belongs to Hawamech and is protected by local and international law. This includes our logo and icon designs, visual patterns, code, marketing and descriptive texts, the site’s infrastructure, and the photographs our team produces for marketing, content and products. You may not copy, change, quote, reuse or publish any of it, for commercial or personal use, without our prior written permission.

6. Product information and prices

• Detailed information. We know that buying a book online is not the same as holding it, so we show as much detail as we can for each product, such as photos, weight, size, number of pages, paper type, cover type and a short description, so you know exactly what you are buying before you pay.
• Basic information. When a publisher or vendor does not provide full details, we always show the essentials: title, author, cover, price and weight.
• Extra photos on request. You can ask our customer service for more information or photos of the inside pages of products that are stocked in Hawamech’s own warehouse.
• Your price is locked. We honour the price shown on the site when you place your order. If a publisher or vendor changes the price while we prepare your order, you still pay the original price, with no extra charge.
• Currency. Prices are shown in your local currency: Egyptian pounds in Egypt, Saudi riyals in Saudi Arabia and US dollars everywhere else. The amount shown at checkout is the amount you pay.
• Shipping is extra. Product prices do not include shipping. The shipping cost for your exact location is calculated and shown at checkout, before you pay. See Shipping & Delivery.

7. Placing an order

Your order starts when you add products to your cart and complete checkout. Please check the items and quantities in your cart before you continue to checkout; we keep your cart saved for a while so you can come back to it. If you prefer, you can send us your shipping details through any of our official channels and our team will place the order for you. Once your details are confirmed, we start preparing your order.

8. How we fulfil your order

After you order, we send you an invoice listing your products. We then buy the items you ordered from our partner publishers and vendors on your behalf, and we keep the most popular titles in stock based on regular analysis of what our readers buy. Items from many publishers, together with stationery and reading accessories, are packed into one parcel with one shipping cost when they ship from the same place. If your items ship from more than one place, each shipment has its own shipping cost, shown at checkout before you pay. See Shipping & Delivery.

If a title turns out to be unavailable from the publisher, or a price was shown by obvious mistake, we tell you straight away and refund what you paid for that item.

9. Cancelling an order

You can cancel your order and get a full refund while it is still being prepared and before it is handed to the courier, within 2 hours of placing it. After that, our Returns & Exchanges Policy applies. To cancel, contact our customer service with your order number.

Why 2 hours? We start preparing your order as soon as you place it so it reaches you as fast as possible.

10. Payment and security

• Secure payment. Online payments go through certified local and international payment gateways. We do not store your full card number.
• Pay in advance and save 3%. In Egypt, paying in advance by any method other than cash on delivery gives you an instant 3% discount on your products. The discount does not apply to shipping.
• Cash on delivery (Egypt only). Available for orders from 200 EGP up to 3,000 EGP, with a 10 EGP service fee shown in your order summary. You pay the full amount in cash to the courier on delivery. We may withdraw cash on delivery from accounts that refuse deliveries without a valid reason.
• Fraud prevention. To protect our customers and the store, we may stop or cancel any purchase our security systems flag as suspicious. If fraud is confirmed, the transaction is rejected and any amount paid is returned to the original payment method.

11. Reward points and gift cards

Reward points are earned on products only (not on shipping) and are added once your order is delivered. 100 points are worth 10 EGP, or the same amount in your currency. Points are valid for 180 days from the day they are earned, have no cash value, and can only be used as described on the Hawamech Rewards page. A sign-up bonus is added once, when you create your account; the number of points depends on your country and is shown on that page. Bonus points for a Facebook review, an unboxing video or a charity donation are added only after our team approves the link or proof you send, and points earned on an order that is cancelled or refunded are removed. Gift cards are used as store credit until their expiry date and cannot be returned or exchanged for cash. See Gift Cards.

12. Offers for institutions and organisations

We believe in our role in spreading knowledge, so we offer special prices to charities, schools, universities and educational institutions worldwide. The same applies to reading clubs and literary groups, co-working spaces and public libraries, companies and organisations, and researchers and students with special needs. Discounts depend on the size and value of the order and are arranged directly with our customer service, who will send you a formal quotation.

13. Customer service and official channels

All questions and after-sales requests are received and tracked in one recorded support system, through our official channels only: email at info@hawamech.com, WhatsApp and our contact form. The site takes orders 24 hours a day, our support team works around the clock, including weekends and holidays.

14. Your privacy

We keep the personal data you give us private and secure. We never sell, rent or share it with third parties for commercial purposes. We use it only to ship and track your orders with our logistics partners, to improve your shopping experience and to send you Hawamech offers. You can ask us at any time to update your data or delete your account. Read our full Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and our policies at any time to reflect how we work. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on this page, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept them.
