Perhaps one of the strange things about human reality is that the things most familiar to us are the hardest to define. And when we take up “intelligence”, we enter directly into one of the most complex issues. The author addresses the following issues and topics concerning intelligence: an introduction to intelligence, its importance and its definition; the history of intelligence, or mental measurement; the best-known intelligence scales, namely the Stanford-Binet scale (from its beginnings to the fifth edition); the Wechsler-Bellevue scale of intelligence for adults and adolescents; whether intelligence tests really measure intelligence; and how to develop your intelligence.
