Contemporary Jihadi Islamic Thought

The “Nusus” (Texts) series seeks to present overviews of the basic writings of a number of intellectual and political currents that influence awareness and the course of events in our contemporary political and cultural life, with critical introductions and commentaries that analyse and reveal the impact of those currents and their connection to the intellectual dilemmas in our countries. In some of its issues, the series will also bring together the important works of a number of prominent and influential Arab authors from various literary, intellectual and political currents. This book is the first in the series. Through it we try to put before the Arab reader, in a single volume, an overview of the most important principal texts of the contemporary Salafi-Jihadi current, in its various movements and chronological stages, including the foundational texts of its schools of thought, the texts that grounded its jurisprudential and legal methodologies, and the texts that carried its political orientations at the level of strategy and tactics. It also includes appendices with definitions of all the concepts and terms used in the current’s literature, and of the most important movements and organisations that operated under its umbrella, along with a chronology at the beginning of the book recording all the major milestones in the development of the Salafi-Jihadi movement worldwide.
